B.C. sees 24 new COVID-19 cases over past two days, three more deaths

VANCOUVER — B.C. has seen 24 new cases of COVID-19 over the past two days.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says there were 15 new cases recorded on Wednesday (July 1) and nine more Thursday.

The 2,940 cases recorded since the beginning of the pandemic are distributed throughout the province as below:

• 989 (Vancouver Coastal)
• 1,553 (Fraser Health)
• 132 (Island Health)
• 201 (Interior Health)
• 65 (Northern Health)

There have been no new outbreaks in either the healthcare system or the community and the only active community outbreak has been declared over. There are five active outbreaks in the healthcare system.

Dr. Henry says there are 160 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C., including 17 people in hospital and two in critical or intensive care.

Unfortunately, three more people have died of the virus in the past two days, bringing B.C.’s death toll to 177.

The total of those considered fully recovered is now 2,603, or 89 per cent of all those who have had COVID-19 in B.C.
