VANCOUVER — B.C.’s Passenger Transportation Board (PTB) has given Regina-based Rider Express the green light to increase its service through the B.C. Interior.

The passenger bus service currently provides service through the Trans Canada corridor east of Kamloops, down the Coquihalla Highway and into Vancouver. It’s license requires it to serve that route with a minimum of two round trips per week.

As it stands, Rider Express stops in Golden, Revelstoke, Sicamous and Salmon Arm twice per week. It stops in Kamloops, Merritt, Hope, Chilliwack, Abbotsford and Vancouver daily.

In February, the company applied to increase its frequency to daily round trips for all of its stops.

In a decision dated June 22, the PTB says it is satisfied with the company’s rationale that its business has been increasing since it launched the route, and that Rider Express passengers often choose different destinations that those riding with competitor Ebus.

The PTB also approved the Rider Express request to add stops in Chase, Sorrento and Surrey.
