KAMLOOPS — The principal of Pacific Way Elementary School is warning parents after an apparent case of attempted child-luring Monday (June 22).

According to an email to parents from Principal Anthoney Rempel, the incident happened at about 6:45 p.m. near the school.

While two children were walking to the mailbox to check for a package, a man drove past and waved.

When the two waved at him, he turned around, waved again and said hello. The children said hello, and the man turned around again and passed a third time, waving and saying hello.

Finally, he turned around and passed a fourth time, stopped and asked if they wanted a ride in his car.

The car is described as a white, four-door sedan with untinted windows. The children said it may have been an Audi, and the man had a ‘Skip the Dishes’ bag in the back seat.

In a social media post, the parent of the children who were approached said they described the man as possibly South Asian, in his 20s with a beard, short hair and wearing a black shirt.

Rempel says RCMP have been alerted to the incident.

He says teachers are reviewing ‘stranger danger’ principles with their students today, but he notes, with many students still learning from home, parents should review those principles as well.
