KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Fire Rescue quickly knocked down a house fire in the Westsyde area this morning (June 20), before it had spread through the entire home.

Platoon Captain Troy Grant says just before 4 a.m on Saturday, dispatch had received multiple calls from Westsyde residents who could smell smoke in the McCurrach Road area.

“So the Station 4 crew went for a drive through the neighbourhood to see if they could find the source of the smoke, and right about the time the fire got reported as a structure fire, Station 4 happened upon the fire itself.”

Grant says the fire was contained to one home along McCurrach Road. The majority of the flames were within in the attic space, with some smoke throughout the living quarters.
