Interior Health warns of cocaine supply contaminated with fentanyl and phenacetin
KAMLOOPS — Interior Health is alerting the public of a contaminated drug supply in the Kamloops area.
Yesterday (June 19) IHA has issued a warning of the presence of powder cocaine containing fentanyl, and Phenacetin in the region. It notes that Phenacetin is an old pain reliever which is also a carcinogen (cancer causing).
The health authority says stimulants contaminated with fentanyl have a high risk for overdose.
With that, people who use drugs are advised to have their drugs checked, don’t use alone, carry a Naloxone kit, or use an overdose prevention site.
