Category 2 fire ban to be lifted in Kamloops area Friday

Jun 18, 2020 | 3:50 PM

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Fire Centre is loosening burning regulations in response to the rainy June.

Effective at noon Friday (June 19), the restriction on Category 2 fires will be lifted. Category 2 fires consist of those no more than two metres high by three metres wide, often used for yard waste burning.

According to a news release from the B.C. Wildfire Service, the restriction will be lifted due to the “weather patterns and the time of year.”

Fireworks, sky lanterns and burn barrels are allowed as well.
