Kamloops RCMP officer charged following IIO Investigation
KAMLOOPS – A Kamloops RCMP officer is facing a charge of dangerous driving following an investigation by the BC Independent Investigations Office (IIO). Charges were sworn against Cst. Christopher Squire Wednesday (June 17) in B.C. Provincial Court at the Kamloops courthouse.
The IIO investigation determined charges could be laid against three officers in the case. However, the BC Prosecution Service concluded that the charge standard had only been met for a charge of dangerous driving against Cst. Squire. An explanation of that conclusion will be made public following the completion of court proceedings.
As a result of the pursuit, the alleged truck thief suffered injuries.
