KAMLOOPS — Residents in Valleyview did most of the work this morning cleaning up after a single vehicle accident.

Kamloops Fire Platoon Captain Wade Lindoff says they were called out at 6:00 AM to a report of a vehicle into a house and on fire off the frontage road in the 2200 block of the East Trans Canada, just east of Highland Drive. Lindoff says the vehicle left the highway, crossed the frontage road, went through some shrubs and wound up close to a residence.

Lindoff says the rear quarter of the vehicle was burning and the lone female occupant couldn’t open the doors. Residents used garden hoses to beat the fire down and used rocks so they could smash the vehicle’s windows and pull the occupant to safety.

Captain Lindoff says there’s no indication of a cause at this point. The driver apparently has been treated for non life-threatening injuries.
