ANGLEMONT, B.C. — A North Shuswap man is in custody after allegedly threatening to kill his neighbour’s entire household.

According to a release from Sgt. Barry Kennedy of Chase RCMP, officers were called to a home in the 7800-block of Squilax-Anglemont Road in Anglemont last Friday (May 29).

RCMP were told a man had been target shooting with a .22 calibre rifle in his backyard before he made a threat to shoot his neighbour’s home. As the caller was on the phone with 9-1-1 dispatch, a shot could be heard in the background.

Kennedy says police arrived in force and surrounded the home. The suspect tried to flee in a vehicle through a back alley, but officers cut him off and took him into custody.

Searching the vehicle, police found a loaded .22, and later found other loaded guns and weapons inside his home.

Kennedy identifies the man in custody as 49-year-old Darryl Pick. Kennedy says Pick was on conditions not to have firearms since a November, 2019 incident when he had pointed an imitation handgun at officers as they responded to his home.

Pick will remain in custody until at least June 15, which is his next scheduled court appearance.
