KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops woman who authored a children’s book about staying home during the COVID-19 pandemic, has now penned a sequel, called “Safe at School”.

TRU Instructor Susan Mark was able to use information from health authorities to form the content in a kid-friendly way – complete with illustrations and activities.

She says it’s important to have an educational piece like this for kids to understand the new way of interacting with one another. Mark adds that she aims to have a copy provided to as many schools in Kamloops as possible.

“The way I look at it is, it normalizes that expectation for them. Regardless of the content of the book, the fact that there is a book about this is normalizing in some way, and then of course there’s the layers of the content, and the activities, and of course the money I’m donating to charity to help COVID-19 relief efforts, so it’s multi-faceted,” said Mark.

Books are $8 each, with proceeds going towards the Kamloops Food Bank, Kamloops SPCA branch, and educational programs. Copies can be ordered contact-free through email at suesiemark@gmail.com.
