VICTORIA — The province is once again reporting nine new cases of COVID-19 Thursday (May 28).

In her regular update on COVID-19, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says that brings the B.C. total to 2,558 test positive cases – though that is only eight higher than the total reported Wednesday.

Here is where the cases are located throughout B.C.:

  • 899 (Vancouver Coastal)
  • 1,274 (Fraser Health)
  • 127 (Vancouver Island)
  • 195 (Interior Health)
  • 63 (Northern Health)

The total of 195 in Interior Health represents one new case Thursday.

Henry reported one new healthcare outbreak, with a single case reported at Nicola Lodge in Port Coquitlam.

On the bright side, Henry says there are no new community outbreaks and the previous outbreak at the Mission Institution, a federal correctional facility, has been declared over.

There are 241 active COVID-19 cases in B.C., with 33 people in hospital and six in critical or intensive care.

Eighty-four per cent of the total cases have been declared resolved, or 2,153 cases.

Two more people have died from COVID-19, bringing the provincial death toll to 164.
