Nine new COVID-19 cases in B.C. Wednesday

VICTORIA — The province has registered nine new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.

That’s according to a news release from the province issued Wednesday (May 27). The provincial total of test positive cases is now 2,550.

Of that total, 2,144 people are considered fully recovered – or 84 per cent – and there are 244 active cases. Thirty-seven people are hospitalized with the virus, including seven in intesnive care.

One more person has died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the provincial death toll to 162.

In the release, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix say new cases that have resulted from the easing of pandemic-related restrictions will begin to surface over the coming week.
