KAMLOOPS — Over the years there have been several attempts to establish a pro baseball team in Kamloops — by several different leagues.

One of the more interesting was in 2002.

The fledgling Canadian Baseball League was an independent circuit with Baseball Hall of Fame’er Ferguson Jenkins as its figurehead commissioner.

It started with eight teams — four in eastern Canada and four in western Canada, including Kelowna — and had plans to expand to Kamloops.
