No more deaths due to COVID-19 over past 24 hours in B.C.

VICTORIA — For the first time in recent memory, there were no new deaths due to COVID-19 in B.C. over a 24-hour period.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry provided the optimistic news at her regular briefing Tuesday. The provincial death toll remains at 161.

Henry reported 11 new cases of the virus, bringing the total test positive cases to 2,541.

Those diagnosed are spread through the province as follows:

• 897 (Vancouver Coastal)
• 1,261 (Fraser Health)
• 127 (Vancouver Island)
• 194 (Interior Health)
• 62 (Northern Health)

Henry told media there are no new healthcare facility or community outbreaks to report.

Of the 258 active cases in the province, 37 are in hospital including seven in intensive or critical care.

Twenty more people have been declared fully recovered, bringing that total to 2,122 in B.C., or 84 per cent of all those diagnosed with COVID-19 in B.C.
