KAMLOOPS — Greg Stewart has proven himself and more as a multi-sport Kamloops athlete. In his latest sporting venture, the 7’2″ gentle giant has picked up shot put and his sights set on the Tokyo Paralympics next year.

But more than a decade ago, Stewart was a stalwart on the UCC Sun Demons squad and later the TRU Wolfpack.

Stewart helped the Sun Demons win a Canadian collegiate national championship in 2005. Stewart left the university, but then returned for a second stint in 2008.

He played a total of five seasons for the Sun Demons and Wolfpack, winning the Canada West Defensive Player of the Year in 2010 and 2011.

At the conclusion of his collegiate career, he was school’s record holder for blocks (174) and rebounds (775). With 1,024 points, Stewart was also the school’s all-time leading scorer for nine years until being surpassed this season by fellow Kamloops athlete, Joe Davis.
