Snowbird pilots to depart Halifax for Moose Jaw

KAMLOOPS — The Canadian Forces Snowbirds will remain grounded at Kamloops Airport after a tragic crash took the life of a team member just over a week ago, but their pilots are heading home.

According to a Facebook post, the team will arrive at 15 Wing Moose Jaw Monday afternoon at 2:15 p.m. local time. The team had been in Halifax since a ceremony was held honouring Capt. Jennifer Casey.

The squadron was departing Kamloops last Sunday (May 17) when one jet experienced a problem over Brocklehurst.

Capt. Casey and Capt. Richard MacDougall ejected just before the jet slammed into a Glenview Avenue home. Capt. Casey was killed in the accident. Capt. MacDougall continues to recover from his injuries at Royal Inland Hospital.
