Emergency responders quickly resolve incident on North Thompson River
KAMLOOPS — Emergency crews were able to get a man in unfit condition on the North Thompson River safely to shore this morning.
Kamloops RCMP Sgt. Jeff Bingley says the call came in around 6:10 a.m for a reported incident involving a man on the river underneath the Halston Bridge. He had swam to this location and was on a log boom.
“We were there to assist ambulance,” explains Sgt. Bingley, “Once we were able to get the 43-year-old male aboard a Kamloops Fire boat, it was determined that he appeared to be under the influence of some sort of narcotic, along with possible mental health issues.”
Bingley adds that the incident was peacefully resolved within one hour, and no one was injured in the interaction.
