KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops is planning to reopen a number of its offices – but recreational facilities will have to wait.

In a news release, Mayor Ken Christian says the reopened offices will coincide with B.C.’s move into Phase 2 of its economic revival on the downside of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Facilities that will open to the public June 1:

  • Development and Engineering Services (by appointment only)
  • Kamloops Fire Rescue Station 1 (by appointment only)
  • Civic Operations Centre
  • Bylaw Services Centre

In addition, Kamloops City Hall will open a week later, on June 8. The first two hours of the day, beginning at 8:00 a.m., will be reserved to serve seniors and those with underlying health issues.

Christian says physical distancing measures and engineered barriers will be in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

He also encourages residents to explore what services they can access online.

City officials are planning how to reopen recreational facilities, but are awaiting direction from the B.C. Recreation and Parks Association.
