KAMLOOPS – The local United Way is distributing $440,000 of federal money to support youth mental health and food security in the Thompson-Nicola-Cariboo region.

The money is being made available through the government’s Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF). The fund was developed to mitigate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This welcome funding from the federal government will go a long way toward helping those who are struggling the most,” said Katie Neustaeter, the local Interim Executive Director of the United Way. “The goal of this fund is to bring swift and urgently needed help directly into our communities and we’re eager to provide it.”

Non-profit agencies looking to take advantage of the funding support should submit its application to Thompson Nicola Cariboo United Way by clicking here. Applications will be accepted until June 8.
