VICTORIA — Provincial health officials are urging people to avoid travelling this upcoming long weekend as more COVID-19 test positive cases and deaths are reported.

In her daily COVID-19 update Thursday (May 14), Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry reported 15 new cases of COVID-19, for a province-wide total of 2,392.

For the first time in six days, one of those new cases was recorded in Interior Health.

Here is where the instances of COVID-19 have been found:

  • 878 (Vancouver Coastal)
  • 1149 (Fraser Health)
  • 126 (Vancouver Island)
  • 181 (Interior Health)
  • 58 (Northern Health)

Five-hundred of the total number of cases have been recorded in the province’s health system, including 309 residents and 191 staff.

There are 15 active outbreaks in long-term care facilities and four outbreaks in acute care facilities.

Of the total number of test positive cases, 1,885 people are considered fully recovered — or 79 per cent.

The number of deaths has increased by three Thursday, to 135. All three deaths were recorded within the Fraser Health region.
