Major Crime Unit called in after human remains found in Quesnel area
QUESNEL — The BC RCMP North District Major Crime Unit is assisting Quesnel RCMP and the BC Coroners Service after human remains were found in rural Quesnel this week.
The remains were discovered in a rural area about 40 km west of Quesnel near the Nazko Highway on Wednesday (May 6). In a release, police say Quesnel detachment investigators and a member of the Police Dog Section from Prince George came upon the remains around 2:30 p.m.
The officers had been following up on a missing persons investigation regarding Louis Korkowski, (see previous story here) who had been reported missing and possibly abducted on May 4. So far RCMP have not confirmed whether the remains found were those of Korkowski.
The Major Crime Unit has been called in as the initial indication was that the remains and circumstances surrounding the individual’s death involves criminality.
