Paddling put on hold, with cancellation of 2020 Kamloops Dragon Boat Festival
KAMLOOPS — Local dragon-boaters will set down their paddles and drums this summer, with the 2020 Dragon Boat Festival officially cancelled.
In a release today (May 4), the Kamloops Dragon Boat Festival Committee says their primary concern is the well-being of participants, and it’s clear the COVID-19 pandemic will not be contained in time for the event.
The Kamloops event is part of Dragon Boat Canada festivals (DBC), and the governing body has opted not to paddle.
The committee wanted to give teams enough notice ahead of time to cancel any travel arrangements that had been made. Teams who already registered will be refunded their fees, and the committee thanks the volunteers and sponsors who have supported in the past.
