Flooding shuts down Highway 5A section between Merritt and Kamloops

MERRITT — A section of Highway 5A between Kamloops and Merritt has been closed due to flooding this afternoon (May 4).
According to Drive BC, the flooding has closed the portion of the road from the junction of Highway 97C, and Hillside Way for 96.7 km.
Drive B.C says local access is still available through the north and south sides, but there is no through traffic. An alternate route can be taken on the Coquihalla Highway.
The next update is expected Friday, May 8 at 3 pm.
