KAMLOOPS — Mayor Ken Christian says most Kamloops residents have been respecting social-distancing measures put forth by the province, but both police and bylaw have been responding to some public complaints about people gathering.

Christian said on Friday that in the last six weeks, Kamloops RCMP has responded to 66 calls about social distancing concerns. City of Kamloops bylaw officers have dealt with 79 complaints in public places and another 58 with private facilities.

“That, relative to a population of 100,000 people, is not a bad number in my opinion,” he said. “Our bylaw services continue to do wellness checks within the vulnerable population in our community and I commend them for that.”
