KAMLOOPS — It has been 100 days since provincial health officials in B.C. made their first public comments about COVID-19 — then known as the novel coronavirus.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry noted the landmark during her daily COVID-19 address Thursday (Apr. 30).

Henry reported 25 new positive tests for the virus over the past 24 hours, bringing the total in B.C. to 2,112.

Of those cases, 1,322 people are considered fully recovered, or 63 per cent of all cases.

The number of people hospitalized with the virus Thursday is 82, including 30 in critical or intensive care.

Two more people have died due to COVID-19. Henry said one victim was a senior in long-term care, while the other was in hospital. That makes 111 deaths in the province since the virus arrived.

There are 24 active outbreaks in B.C. seniors facilities, and no new outbreaks were noted Thursday.

The following breakdown shows where each COVID-19 case in B.C. has been recorded:

  • 815 – Vancouver Coastal
  • 961 – Fraser Health
  • 120 – Vancouver Island
  • 170 – Interior Health
