KAMLOOPS — Interior Health (IH) is changing public access to Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) next week to accommodate construction of the Patient Care Tower.

According to a news release from IH, the traffic pattern change around the hospital will come into effect on Monday (May 4).

While access to the RIH parkade and over-height parking areas will remain the same, those looking to drop off patients at the hospital will need to use Fifth Avenue rather than the Third Avenue entrance.

Turning south off Columbia Street near Fifth Avenue, drivers will continue behind the Kamloops Courthouse and Government of B.C. buildings before accessing the hospital property.

IH says flaggers and signage will be on site as of Monday morning.

The traffic pattern change will allow crews to install a new water line and propane tank controls. Construction on this particular project is slated to wrap up on Sunday, May 11.
