KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops says its asphalt plant has opened from the season, and one of its first projects will involve a stretch of Victoria Street West.

According to a news release, the section of West Victoria from the Overlanders Bridge west to Mission Flats Road will be milled and paved beginning next Monday (May 4).

Detours will be in place temporarily during the road work.

The City says the asphalt work should be done during the week, weather permitting, and line-painting is scheduled to begin May 11.

Meantime, the City says the improvements project for Victoria Street West is still on track for completion this summer.

Work upcoming will involve removing utility poles, installing a pair of pedestrian signals on either end of the corridor, and installing new lamp standards.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit along the corridor will remain at 30 km/h for the forseeable future.
