Interior Health opens 14 virus test centres

KELOWNA – More residents are eligible for COVID-19 testing under expanded health regulations announced today by provincial health officials. Under the new guidelines, anyone with symptoms of the virus can be tested.

Interior Health says 14 testing centres have been established in communities across the scope of the health authority, including Kamloops, 100 Mile House, Williams Lake and Salmon Arm.

Symptoms of COVID-19 are similar to other respiratory illnesses such as the flu and the common cold. Those symptoms include:

• fever

• chills

• cough

• shortness of breath

• sore throat

• painful swallowing

• stuffy or runny nose

• loss of sense of smell

• headache

• muscle aches

• fatigue

• loss of appetite

Interior Health says even those with mild symptoms, should contact their family doctor or their nearest testing centre to set up an appointment for a test.
