Special weather statement issued for South Thompson, with possibility of winds up to 80 km/h

KAMLOOPS — Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the South Thompson today (Apr. 25), with strong winds expected in the region.

According to the forecaster, an intense Pacific cold front from the coast will be moving across the Interior this afternoon. The front will bring southwest winds at 40 km/h, with gusts to 70 or 80 km/h at its peak.

Environment Canada notes that during this period, power outages are possible, however the wind is expected to lighten this evening as a ridge of high pressure builds in from the west.
