KAMLOOPS — The second time was a charm for a Victoria-based ride-hailing company that wants to operate in the Kamloops area.

According to a decision from the Passenger Transportation Board (PTB) issued Wednesday (Apr. 22), Lucky to Go has been approved to offer ride-sharing services to all five regions in B.C., including the Interior.

Rides will be offered through the company’s smartphone app and, in the Interior, will carry a minimum charge of $3.50.

Lucky to Go was denied its first attempt to obtain a license, with the PTB saying the application failed to provide market information or evidence of driver supply, among other concerns.

The company submitted a new application on Dec. 24.

In its decision, the PTB said Lucky to Go established public need for its service and has established a viable business plan.

While Kami Cabs and Yellow Cabs in Kamloops filed submissions opposing Lucky to Go’s initial application, the companies did not formally oppose the second.

The full decision can be read below.
