KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP have arrested one man after he attempted to break into a commercial storage unit Wednesday morning (Apr. 22).

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says earlier this morning, RCMP had received a report from a citizen who claimed they’d seen someone lurking near a storage container in a commercial area off Versatile Drive.

“When our officer arrived, he didn’t see anybody in the area, but did notice that the lock on the storage shed had been tampered with,” she says, “Our police dog services were called in and were able to follow a track to a man who was hiding on the hillside near Costco.”

Shelkie says the man was found to have break and enter tools in his backpack, and was also breaching his probation so he was arrested at the time. The 33-year-old will now be appearing before a Justice of the Peace.
