Three new deaths from COVID-19 include first death in Interior Health area

VICTORIA — The population within the Interior Health region has experienced its first death from COVID-19.

In her daily news conference Wednesday (Apr. 15), Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced three new deaths from the virus, including one in Interior Health.

Henry said the victim was a man in his 60s who had been at home and was thought to be in recovery. She did not disclose the community where the man lived.

Overall, B.C. saw 44 new positive diagnoses of COVID-19 Wednesday, bringing the provincial total to 1,561. 146 of those are within Interior Health.
