North Shore Wendy’s damaged by fire

KAMLOOPS – According to multiple reports, the Wendy’s on the North Shore has been gutted by fire.

Photos and video sent to CFJC Today indicate the Wendy’s location at the corner of Fortune Drive and 8th Street has been destroyed by fire.

“I saw smoke from my window so went to investigate and found them fighting an already fully involved blaze that seemed completely out of control with flames at least 60 feet,” said area resident Ryan Armand, who sent in photos and video.

Armand noticed the fire around 2:40 a.m. on Friday. Multiple fire trucks and other emergency personnel could be seen on the scene by witnesses in the area.

There has been no word from Kamloops Fire Rescue on the extent of the damage.

RCMP closed roads in the area to support fire fighting efforts. It’s expected the area will remain closed for several hours while fire crews battle the blaze. The public is being asked to avoid the area.

Mounties are also asking the public for help in the initial investigation of the fire. Anyone with information on the fire or on any suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact the RCMP detachment at 250 828-3000.
