KAMLOOPS — It’s been nearly one month since COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic.

When the virus first began to spread, the majority of cases were attributed to international travel. Now in the Interior and other health authorities in the province, the majority of cases come from community transmission or an unknown exposure.

According to the BCCDC website, just 25 of Interior Health’s 128 positive COVID-19 cases are attributed to travel, while 43 cases are believed to be locally transmitted, and 42 cases are due to an unknown exposure.

The remaining two cases are waiting for more data.

In the Interior Health region, 57 of the 128 patients have fully recovered. The median age of patients in the region is 50 years old.

There are currently six people in critical care in the Interior Health region.

The BCCDC says on its website that the number of tests being conducted has decreased since March 28.
