UPDATE: Trans Canada in Valleyview back open after brief closure

KAMLOOPS — UPDATE: RCMP say the highway has re-opened to traffic in Valleyview.

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says RCMP were called to a complaint of shots fired, but that was found to be false.

EARLIER: RCMP have shut down the East Trans Canada Highway at Oriole Road as they respond to a call.

According to Cpl. Jodi Shelkie, RCMP were called to the Lamplighter Hotel at about 1:10 p.m. Tuesday (Apr. 7).

Shelkie says the highway is closed in both directions at that location. She says there is no danger to the public and officers are likely to open the highway soon.
