Columbia-Shuswap Regional District chides landfill users for failing to respect physical distancing

SALMON ARM, B.C. — The Columbia-Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) says many customers are defying physical distancing at the district’s waste stations — and it’s time that stops.

The CSRD says customers should consider whether it is necessary to visit landfill sites, transfer stations or recycling facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a news release, those who are visiting the sites are putting staff and the public at risk by flouting physical distance guidelines.

The district says business at the waste centres has picked up significantly in recent weeks with spring cleaning and yard maintenance.
