RCMP seek missing Alberta man after his items were found in Wells Gray Park

CLEARWATER, B.C. — RCMP have launched a missing persons investigation after personal items belonging to an Alberta man were turned in to the Clearwater detachment.

The items belong to 63-year-old Wayne Theriault, and were turned in on Saturday (Mar. 28) after they had been found by people hiking near Helmcken Falls in Wells Gray Park. Theriault was last seen Mar. 24.

There was no sign of Theriault near his personal effects.

Along with Clearwater Search and Rescue, RCMP searched the area but have failed to find him.

Police say there is nothing to indicate Theriault’s disappearance was suspicious.
