KAMLOOPS — Police in Kamloops are investigating a suspicious incident in Rayleigh.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in a news release that the incident happened on the Frontage Road in Rayleigh Sunday (March 29).

A 13-year-old boy was riding his bike in front of the Rayleigh Pub when a car pulled up beside him, and the driver allegedly asked if he wanted a ride.

Shelkie says the boy declined and the car pulled over.

A man got out of the vehicle, approached the boy and allegedly grabbed him by the arm. The boy was able to pull free and bike away.

Shelkie says besides the man who got out of the vehicle, there were two other men in the car — all appeared to be in their 20s.

The man who got out of the car is described as 5’8″ with blonde hair shaved on the sides with a mullet at the back. He was wearing a Metallica band shirt and brown cargo pants.

One of the men in the car had a completely shaved head and he was wearing a black sweater and black sweatpants. The other man had a dark complexion and dark hair, wearing a t-shirt and shorts.

Shelkie says the car was a grey four-door Honda sedan with tinted rear windows. It had a “Thrasher” bumper sticket, and it’s believed the first two letters of the licence plate are “JV”.

While the boy was pulling away from the stranger, he hurt his shoulder and was taken to hospital to be checked.

Anyone who has information is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
