Share Sheds close across Cariboo Regional District
WILLIAMS LAKE – Many spring cleaning projects are being put on hold as residents come to grips with the COVID-19 virus. Messages of handwashing, self-isolation and social distancing are at the forefront of minds. Those hoping to escape from it and take second-hand goods to the local Share Shed, will have to put the idea on hold.
The Cariboo Regional District has closed all Share Sheds until further notice in an effort to reduce the spread of the virus. The Regional District says the move will reduce the number of people at refuse sites. It also reduces the risk of transfer of virus, which has the ability to live for days on hard surfaces according to some scientific studies.
The closure is effective immediately. The Cariboo Regional District operates 11 Share Sheds across its region. It hopes residents can store their items at home until it is safe to reopen the facilities.
