COVID-19 prompts curtailments at West Fraser
Mar 26, 2020 | 2:22 PM
VANCOUVER — The COVID-19 pandemic has hit the forestry industry.
West Fraser has announced lumber production at all its sawmills will be curtailed for one week effective March 30.
West Fraser says the imposition of mandatory and recommended restrictions on movement, travel, work and trade is impacting its operations and creating uncertainty in the demand for forest products.
This will result in the elimination of an additional 24 million board feet of production for the week in addition to the curtailments and reduced production announced on March 19.
