Poor social distancing forces City of Kamloops to close Hillside Stadium

KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops says many people using Hillside Stadium have not been practising proper social distancing, and that can’t continue.

So, according to a news release from Mayor Ken Christian, Hillside Stadium will be closed effective immediately.

“Unfortunately, social distancing best practices are not being adhered to at Hillside Stadium and therefore the Emergency Operations Centre made the decision today to close this facility to the public,” Christian says in the release.

The closure comes on the heels of the City and Kamloops-Thompson School District closing all of their public playgrounds Monday (March 23).
