Kamloops athlete sheds tear over COC not sending athletes to Olympics/Paralympics — but says it is the right thing to do.

KAMLOOPS — Yesterday the Canadian Olympic Committee announced it will not be sending athletes to the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics if they are held this summer.

Other national Olympic committees have called on the IOC to postpone the games, but Canada is the first national to say it will not send a delegation to the Tokyo Games if they go on as scheduled.

It means athletes who have been training for months, and in some cases years, for a shot at Olympic glory, won’t be getting that chance, at least not this summer.
