Blazers layoff staff, pay cuts

KAMLOOPS — The COVID-19 pandemic is forcing businesses to shutter, costing jobs and putting people out of work.

The Kamloops Blazers closed their office and store last week.

Now office staff has been laid off, and employees in hockey operations are taking pay cuts.

The Blazers played their last regular season game on March 10.

Two days later the Western Hockey League put the rest of the regular season on hold, and last week cancelled it altogether — including the final five games of the Blazers season.
