WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — The Williams Lake RCMP detachment is following in the footsteps of Kamloops and other detachments as it introduces online crime reporting.
The online tool is meant for crimes that do not require the immediate attendance of an officer — crimes such as vandalism or theft under $5,000.
RCMP say the benefits of online reporting including the creation of a file number for insurance purposes, and identifying areas of the city that require increased patrols.
Const. Joel Kooger says one of the primary benefits is freeing up officers to respond to more urgent matters.
