Kamloops BCLC prize payout centre closes amid COVID-19 crisis
KAMLOOPS – Major lottery winners are being asked to collect their winnings in a different manner in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. BCLC is announcing it is temporarily closing prize payout centres in Kamloops and Vancouver immediately.
In a news release Wednesday (March 18) night, BCLC states it made the decision to protect players and staff from the virus. It says it is acting on the advice of health officials, in relation to social distancing.
BCLC suggests players may keep their winning tickets in a safe place until the COVID-19 virus threat passes. Winning tickets are valid for one year after the date of the draw. Draw dates are printed on the front of lottery tickets. Scratch & Win expiry dates can be found on the back of the ticket. The lottery corporation says players should protect their tickets by signing them immediately.
Lottery retailers may redeem winning tickets for up to $2,000, provided they have access to that amount of cash. Otherwise, those with winning tickets that are close to expiry should contact BCLC Customer Support at 1-866-815-0222.
