KAMLOOPS — One of the major events of the spring will take a break in 2020. The CFJC Boogie the Bridge has been cancelled by organizers due to the COVID-19 situation.

In a news release last night (March 16), founder Jo Berry writes:

“While it is likely not a surprise to most of you, the government restrictions limiting public gatherings to minimize the risk of transmission of the COVID-19 virus, has severely limited our ability to go ahead with the 2020 Boogie the Bridge. The uncertainty that we all face at this time will require us to band together as a community and while we will be able to get through this unprecedented event, it is with heavy hearts that we are officially cancelling the 2020 Boogie the Bridge. “

She adds, ” The world events that we are seeing at this time demands our attention and those of our wonderful and dedicated Boogie team volunteers. We thank all of our amazing sponsors and participants who support us year over year. “

“For those of you who have already registered for the 2020 Boogie the Bridge, you will have the option of a refund, deferring your registration to the 2021 Boogie the Bridge or donating your registration fee to our Charity of Choice, the First Nations Youth Theatre Program under the umbrella of the Western Canada Theatre. “

Jo Berry and the Boogie the Bridge Society Board thank you for your understanding and hope that you and your family can stay safe and healthy during this difficult time. ”

The event had been scheduled for the weekend of April 24 to 26. More than $1 million has been raised for community projects during the history of the event. Last year, more than 2,200 people participated.
