WCT scrubs Cafe Daughter, postpones two more productions

KAMLOOPS — Western Canada Theatre (WCT) has announced more measures in response to the latest recommendations by the province’s chief public health officer.

According to a news release Monday (Mar. 16), WCT will cancel all remaining performances of Cafe Daughter at the Pavilion Theatre. That production began Thursday and was scheduled to run through March 21.

WCT has also indefinitely postponed the two productions that were to follow — Chelsea Hotel: The Songs of Leonard Cohen, and The Boy in the Moon.

Chelsea Hotel was scheduled to run from March 26 to April 4 at the Sagebrush Theatre. The Boy in the Moon, a production of Neworld Theatre, was scheduled to run April 15 to 19 at the Pavilion Theatre.

WCT is asking ticket-holders for these performances to consider either donating the value of the ticket back to the theatre company for a charitable tax receipt, or converting the ticket to an account credit to be applied to a future performance.

Those who don’t wish to take either of those options will be refunded the value of the ticket.

WCT says staff will reach out to ticket holders in the coming weeks.
