KAMLOOPS – The City of Kamloops says it’s ramping up measures to address the COVID-19 global pandemic.

In a notice on its website, the City says it’s working to keep residents informed of steps being taken.

As of Saturday (March 14) all City-operated hot tubs, saunas and steam rooms will be closed until further notices based on direction from the BC and Yukon Lifesaving Society, which sets guidelines for aquatic facilities.

More information about aquatic facility impacts can be found here.

The City says it’s actively working with its Emergency Program Manager and Health and Safety Department.

Other precautions include practicing social distancing (maintaining a two-metre distance between others whenever possible), increased cleaning of surfaces and public areas, and encouraging those who feel ill to stay home.

At this time public facilities remain open. Starting March 16, signs at City buildings will share precautions including asking people not to enter facilities if they are sick.
