Sun Peaks Resort taking precautions amid COVID-19 risks
KAMLOOPS — With the suspension of all professional and amateur sports, as well as the cancellation or postponement of events across Canada, the fears surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic have reached new heights. For our local ski resort, those fears haven’t yet caused too much disruption to activity on the mountain.
Sun Peaks is monitoring the global novel coronavirus pandemic situation closely, but so far is optimistic operations at the resort should continue with minimal impact to their guests. Aidan Kelly, Chief Marketing Officer with the resort, says Sun Peaks staff have stepped up efforts to help ensure the safety of all guests on the mountain.
“We’re just being proactive in all our facilities: additional cleaning and sanitation efforts, and doing whatever we can in case anything was to happen,” Kelly tells CFJC Today. “We’re in a pretty good position here. We’re pretty happy with the approach, but there’s a definite level of concern you’ve got to be ready for any scenario. My perspective was very different on this 24 hours ago then it is now because it’s a quickly-evolving situation.”
