Kamloops Hindu Cultural Society cancels weekend Holi celebration

KAMLOOPS — Organizers of a Hindu celebration planned for Riverside Park this weekend have decided to cancel in light of the COVID-19 spread.

In a news release, Kamloops Hindu Cultural Society President Mukesh Sharma says the Rang Barse Holi event was planned for Saturday (Mar. 14).

Though Sharma says much time and effort went into preparations, “[t]he safety and health of our beautiful city is paramount to us.”

Sharma says the society has considered all options to keep the event open, but says going ahead with the event would be “extremely selfish.”
